Pharma social media marketing

The top 6 strategies to enhance pharma social media marketing in 2022

The Indian pharmaceutical industry is the world’s 3rd largest by volume and 14th largest in terms of value. The main factors that are leading to growth are the rise in R&D spending, advancements in technology, a rise in focus on the healthcare needs of emerging nations, and growth in the geriatric population. But the industry faces many challenges when it comes to marketing, certainly with digital.

Companies in the pharma and healthcare sectors need to have social media marketing strategies and provide communications and create customer journeys that are suitable for both patients and decision-makers in the healthcare industry. Here are the top 6 strategies to enhance pharma social media marketing.

1. Promote online

Social media marketing allows you to promote your products and services online, where the targeted audience is present, with the effect of the covid-19 pandemic, the entire world changed in an instant and customers are spending their time online more than before.

2. Expand your marketing campaigns to more social media platforms

It is important to have your brand presence on all the social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and so on. By doing this, you can reach more customers which will attract more visitors to your site and may lead to conversion.

3. Dynamic Website

Customers from various social media channels visit the website so it is vital to have a dynamic and user-friendly website. Once they have shown interest in your posts on social channels, they will visit the website in search of any information or maybe for any inquiry, that is why your website must be appealing and user-friendly.

4. Offer customer support through social media

The best way to ensure your customers are responding to their queries and trying to resolve their issues. This not only increases sales but also helps in creating better connections with the customer. In Medical crises like covid-19, people panic and are full of questions. Creating a customer support team operating through social media is a good strategy to help customers.

5. Creating Awareness

Patients today are using social media to know important medical information and for healthcare research. The form of informative posts and videos on social media can help them to find relevant information. Since the pharma industry is a highly regulated sector, FDA regulations prohibit pharma companies from circulating false information and insist on providing only precise facts in an accurate and balanced way.

6. Hire a social media marketing agency

Hiring a professional social media marketing agency will reduce your time and effort in building an online presence on social channels. With a team of skilled content writers, and designers you can make your pharma company stand out in the competitive market.

Most digital age consumers search for information on social media so it is vital to provide the information efficiently on all the social media channels.

You can narrate about pharma brands with attractive posts, video ads, storytelling, and with other social media strategies.

Digital Transformation in Pharmaceutical Industry

Digital transformation in pharmaceutical/ healthcare industry in 2022

Digital transformation in the Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Industry is crucial to improving patient care, cost-effectiveness, transparency, drug production and development. But, the sector has been relatively slow in embracing digital transformation.

According to a Global Data survey, 35% of pharma industry professionals believe the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated digital transformation by more than five years. The pandemic has also changed traditional sales and marketing models, leading to increased demand for online marketing and communication tools.

In 2022, new digital trends will elevate the Pharmaceutical & Healthcare Industries:

1.Teleconsultation and Telemedicine

Teleconsultation Pharma digital trends

Teleconsultation and Telemedicine are being increasingly adopted by Healthcare Professionals (HCP’s) to virtually manage patients, predict and prevent illnesses, and improve clinical outcomes. There’s been almost an 80 percent rise in consumption of digital healthcare services after COVID-19. Teleconsultation has emerged as a major digital transformation in Healthcare industry.

As more services are being provided remotely with the onset of digitization, Telehealth is set to witness a further rise in usage.

2. Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Artificial Intelligence pharma digital trend

AI and Machine Learning (ML) play a critical role in the pharmaceutical industry. The best use cases for these technologies are drug discovery, drug manufacturing, diagnostic assistance, and optimising medical treatment processes.

AI and machine learning can significantly help with diagnostic assistance by providing a more data-driven approach to patient categorization. AI can help optimize the medical treatment process through mobile apps with health measurement and remote monitoring capabilities. The recent surge in activity in deploying AI capabilities in the pharmaceutical industry shows no sign of slowing down. According to recent research about 50 percent of global healthcare companies plan to implement AI strategies and broadly adopt the technology by 2025.

3. Augmented Reality/ Virtual Reality (AR/VR)

Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality pharma digital trend

AR and VR have the potential to revolutionize medicine in the areas of medical training, patient treatment, and hospital management.

These promising technologies enable healthcare professionals to test new ideas and practices before implementing them in reality. The technology’s realistic 3D modelling of human organs and tissues allows researchers and doctors to virtually test drugs to see how they would react in a live human. AR and VR technologies often called “virtual patients” or “organs-on-a-chip” can reduce animal testing and expedite human clinical trials.

As rapidly emerging technologies, professionals are increasingly exploring new ways to embrace VR and AR in different fields of the medical profession; such as in sales, marketing and advertising. There’s great potential for the use of AR in sales. That’s because the key to a successful rep and healthcare professional relationship is communicating clearly and accurately. AR technology can help sales reps do this by helping doctors visualize the benefits of their products, literally.

Sales and marketing teams will have access to technology that can generate 3D presentations designed to educate healthcare professionals visually.

4. Blockchain Technology

Blockchain technology has many implications in the pharma sector and a positive future. Blockchain technology improves Transparency. Ledger technology based on blockchain can be used to securely transfer patients’ medical records and help reduce miscommunications. It can also help trace the medicine from its origin to the ultimate consumer and help track labour costs and carbon emissions.

5. Digital Trainings

Digital Training pharma digital trend

Online training courses for new technologies in the pharmaceutical sector will be further expanded in 2022 to improve operations and compliance. Ensuring that teams have a solid understanding of the correct use of technologies such as digital signatures, patient planning portals, and electronic document software which will reduce the likelihood of errors, helping pharma organizations to meet the regulatory standards for using that information. Online training courses can be offered anytime, anywhere and can be personalized for each user, making them extremely cost-effective.

6. Cloud Computing

Cloud Computing pharma digital trend

Cloud computing’s importance has grown significantly in recent years. Cloud computing allows marketers to store important data in a global network that can be accessed from anywhere in the world and from any device. This, in turn, allows marketers in the pharmaceutical industry to function more efficiently where they are, instead of having to be in the office to access specific data.

Patients, physicians, and service providers are being informed and influenced by pharma sales reps in person, via mobile devices, internet, apps, and social media. Virtual care from any device and platform is what is becoming more common.

Patients are already using portals to access their medical records and to contact their physicians. Apps are also being used to fill scripts and start conversations between patients with the same disease online.

Moreover, pandemic has uncovered a strong need for innovation and digital transformation, and also quite successfully showcased how quickly the industry can embrace changes when it is pressured to do so.
